Size: 2-3’

Scientific name: Liriodendron tulipifera

The native Tulip poplar is a pollinator’s dream come true! The flowers create so much nectar that it collects in pools within each flower. Whether this tree got it’s name because of its cup-shaped flowers or because the "tulips" are the outline of its leaves, the tulip tree is beloved for its beauty everywhere.

It is the tallest of the eastern hardwoods — and a rapid grower when conditions are right. It features bright green leaves and blooms May through June, producing flowers with aromatic stems. It provides vibrant yellow color in the fall.

Prefers full sun, and Acidic, Clay, Loamy, Moist, Sandy, Well Drained soils. The trunk is often 1.2–1.8 m (4–6 ft) in diameter, though it can grow much broader. Its ordinary height is 24–46 m (80–150 ft) and it tends to have a pyramidal crown. Do not plant near power lines.

This plant will be packaged as "bare root". Bare root plants have no soil around their roots. Bare root trees, shrubs, and perennials must be planted as soon as possible before growth begins. Find care and planting instructions here:  https://www.arborday.org/trees/planting/bare-root.cfm
