Pollinator Habitat Workshop - Trees for Pollinators

  • MSU Extension basement conference room 551 Courthouse Drive Charlotte, MI, 48813 (map)

Cohosted with Eaton County Pheasants Forever … "Create a Meadow in the Sky"

"Two mature basswood trees can produce as much nectar as an acre of sweet clover. Which one will fit in your yard? Trees are some of the best food sources for our pollinators."

Mike Connor, Michigan Beekeepers Association beekeeper, arborist, and founder of the Grand Rapids Bee Club will show us how to use specific types of trees to create "meadows in the sky" to provide resources for essential pollinators such as honeybees and native insects.

Planting pollen- and nectar-producing trees is a relatively new approach to supporting pollinating insects, which have experienced a sharp decline in numbers in recent years. This decline threatens the biodiversity of the food web and crop yields.

Learn which trees you can plant on your property to make the most positive impact for pollinators.

Refreshments and door prizes will be provided.
