River Clean-Ups
The Eaton Conservation District is involved in multiple River clean-ups annually. As we get close to the event, specific information will be posted on the announcements page.
Eaton Rapids Volunteer activities will include trash pick-up, debris removal, and clean-up from the shoreline and from canoes/kayaks. Charlotte Area The Annual River Conservation Day is held the first Sat in October at Bennett Park in Charlotte. Activities include trash pick-up, storm drain stenciling, woody debris removal from river, tree and shrub planting and MORE! Some volunteers will work at other sites near Charlotte that need it. Thornapple River Eaton CD has been partnering on this clean-up for since 2006. The Thornapple Watershed Council organizes a River Clean up for the Thornapple River in September. This river clean-up stretches from Vermontville to Kent county. Volunteers are needed for canoe river clean-up and bankside clean-up. This year's event details are listed at www.thornappleriver.org Get Involved! If you are interested in volunteering for either event, please call the district at (517) 543-1512 X 5. These events are great events for scouts, families, couples, individuals, etc! “I enjoyed participating in the Thornapple river clean-up. Making time to care for our waterways is a great way to connect with your community.” - Matt G volunteer |
